Boeing sure has a lot of eggs in that 787 basket.

I wish they had an equivalent dash-eighty flying first so they could prove the concept of a large plastic airplane before they committed the family farm on it.

What do you think the military contracts were for? Why do you think Boeing bought McDonnell-Douglas? They have decades of experience with the performance of composites in military aircraft which are routinely put under much higher stresses than civilian aircraft.
