Public Schools Are Cheating the Children
RealClear Politics Commentary ^ | January 11, 2006 | John Stossel

Last week, Florida's supreme court ruled that public money can't be spent on private schools because the state constitution commands the funding of only "uniform . . . high-quality" schools. How absurd. As if government schools are uniformly high quality. Or even mostly decent.

Apparently competition, which made even the Postal Service improve, is unconstitutional when it comes to public education in Florida.

I just assumed that being a coach would take some brains, sort of like running a business. But maybe some succeed by instinct!

They have one principal and 6 assistant principals. Each one of those asst. principals makes 80 - 100,000.00 a year.

I have been trying to point this out for years. I know first hand from working at a school district administration office. That is where most of the money is being spent. Salaries and lots of perks.

A few years ago, both my best friend and my s-i-l graduated from college as teachers. I asked them each the same question, "Did you learn anything in your four years that would help make you a better teacher or, in other words, did they teach you to teach?" I'll bet you can guess the answer to that one. Both said, "No".

According to my Grandma my mother did drugs. To be honest my mother disappeared briefly when I was young. Being the knight in shining armor my dad was, he decided to go find her. He should have let her rot. It's harsh, but because of her, I've been judged for every eccentric and outrageous thing I say or think. I'm so F***ing sick of people trying to 'rescue' others. I'm finally beginning to get better, but still, I get furious at how I was supposed to set aside my wants and needs so that way 'Mommie Dearest' wouldn't feel neglected and unloved.

I've been a band booster for 6 years now. My son, now my daugher. We were collecting prizes for a opportunity drawing. Dinner tickets were mailed incorrectly to administration. The principal and staff took those 'prizes' and went out to dinner on them.

We were attempting to gather enough money from this drawing to replace the ATV vehicle to tow the band pit equipment.

We of course were never reimbursed by the principal and staff taking advantage of those expected prizes.

Honestly, it took me many years to realize that I can't help my sister. Thank God, my niece made it on her own. I supported her as I could but it was hard because my sister is a controlling leach.

Bless you on your journey! You sound like you're gonna do just fine.
