Are these two characters, just two more elected officials in Washington that promoted and voted for the Flood Insurance Act. Apparently, the flood insurance program is only okay if it does not expose an elected official to economic loss. Rising water is flat out excluded...before anyone jumps, I have lost a house to rising waters...flood insurance paid maximum under policy (but not the real market and economic value of the house) and I must get on with my life...

Living in a flood plain w/o flood insurance, then excepting the other policy holders to cover your loss. Truly pathetic.

These Republicans need to retire.
Taylor is a democrat.
Does that mean he should NOT retire?

Taylor was one of the speakers at the Katrina hearings. He reminds me of a Southern John Kerry, that is an arrogant ass.

He should retire too. These clowns could have purchased flood insurance. Now they're engaging in shakedown suits using Trent's ambulance-chasing brother-in-law.

I agree but I am sure he would not want to be
called a Republican.

Be very careful judging this situation. It does seem the height of arrogance on the part of the politicians to file a lawsuit for storm surge claims that are clearly not covered under a home owners policy. There is likely much more to this. For example, insurance companies have been one of Trent Lott's biggest campaign contributors. Also, a number of these politicians can afford to rebuild out of pocket. So why the rush to sue?
Easy answer. They are suing to *lose*. If they can get these cases to trial and have them dismissed, it will strengthen the insurance companies against the AG of Mississippi, who is trying to force insurance companies to cover storm surge damage. This is a very shrewed strategy. The politicians get to claim they are looking after the 'little guy' but are really helping their campaign contributors.

Taylor is a democrap. Since he voted to impeach Clinton - I vote for him. It helps me to keep a straight face when I say "I DON'T vote straight GOP".

The politicians get to claim they are looking after the 'little guy' but are really helping their campaign contributors. When Trent Lott's brother-in-law is the ambulance chaser representing the politicos, it is highly unlikely that the suits are being filed in order to lose to the insurance companies. The insurers gave contributions to Trent? So what? He'd stab anyone in the back in a heartbeat for more power or money.

Man, your reading comprehension is terrible. I skimmed it...but thanks for pointing this out despite the posts later in the threads where it was discussed. FWIW, I was once represented by a Cong. Gene Taylor who was a Republican (from Missouri).
