Congressman Gene Taylor has gone to Congress to find help for South Mississippi storm victims. Now he's going to court to help his own family.
The democrat has filed a lawsuit against his insurance company, State Farm. The lawsuit claims Taylor paid premiums for 20 years and relied in good faith that State Farm would cover his hurricane losses.
According to the suit, State Farm did not pay for the total property loss, saying the damage to Taylor's Bay St. Louis home came from the storm surge, not the wind.
Taylor's situation and lawsuit is like so many others - a battle of wind versus water. Dickie Scruggs' law firm, which is representing many other storm victims, is handling Taylor's lawsuit.
The same firm is also handling a similar lawsuit against State Farm from Senator Trent Lott. The republican's beachfront home in Pascagoula was also leveled by Hurricane Katrina.

These Republicans need to retire.
Are these two characters, just two more elected officials in Washington that promoted and voted for the Flood Insurance Act. Apparently, the flood insurance program is only okay if it does not expose an elected official to economic loss. Rising water is flat out excluded...before anyone jumps, I have lost a house to rising waters...flood insurance paid maximum under policy (but not the real market and economic value of the house) and I must get on with my life...
Living in a flood plain w/o flood insurance, then excepting the other policy holders to cover your loss. Truly pathetic.
These Republicans need to retire.
Taylor is a democrat.
Does that mean he should NOT retire?

Have a good one! :>)
So much for contract law.
Taylor was one of the speakers at the Katrina hearings. He reminds me of a Southern John Kerry, that is an arrogant ass.
I think it was the hearings on Waco where
I saw him really make an A** of him self.
He should retire too. These clowns could have purchased flood insurance. Now they're engaging in shakedown suits using Trent's ambulance-chasing brother-in-law.
He should retire too
I agree but I am sure he would not want to be
called a Republican.
Easy answer. They are suing to *lose*. If they can get these cases to trial and have them dismissed, it will strengthen the insurance companies against the AG of Mississippi, who is trying to force insurance companies to cover storm surge damage. This is a very shrewed strategy. The politicians get to claim they are looking after the 'little guy' but are really helping their campaign contributors.
Taylor is a democrap. Since he voted to impeach Clinton - I vote for him. It helps me to keep a straight face when I say "I DON'T vote straight GOP".
When Trent Lott's brother-in-law is the ambulance chaser representing the politicos, it is highly unlikely that the suits are being filed in order to lose to the insurance companies. The insurers gave contributions to Trent? So what? He'd stab anyone in the back in a heartbeat for more power or money.
I skimmed it...but thanks for pointing this out despite the posts later in the threads where it was discussed. FWIW, I was once represented by a Cong. Gene Taylor who was a Republican (from Missouri).
taylor is a socialist Rat!
