never be another president like Reagan - no man will ever bring the kind of american life experiences - the Great Depression, world war II, the cold war, etc - to the Presidency.

Friends don't let friends use Real Player, but here's the video and audio of that same speech, in case anyone would like to watch and listen.

An awesome speech. Reagan was the first President I ever voted for. We were in Greece when he died, and in Normandy a year later on the anniversary. A great man - we all owe him a debt of gratitude.

Great, moving photo.

January 11, 1989? The election was in Novemeber 1990 and President Reagan didn't leave office until January 20, 1991. You sure you have the right date for his farewell speech?

Bzzt. Gong. Bush was elected in 1988. Pres elections are held in years divisible by 4. Reagan left office Jan 20, 1989.

Reagan was the end of an era. The only issue I have was his "no fault divorce". That ushered in more divorces and more disintegration of the family. Other than that he stood firm on capital punishment and firm on NO abortion. We have not had a good President since him.

Oh, that's right. I had the election occurring in 1990 for some reason. (I know they're divisible by 4; just had the wrong year.)

I think you're right. No one can top the Gipper.
I'll never forget how relieved we were when that miserable disgrace, Jimmah Cahtah, got his walking papers and Ronnie was sworn in. The end of sour puss and his who repulsive family and Morning in America again.

FIrst president I ever voted for as well. I proudly voted for him again in '84. He served during my very formative years of college and young adulthood. I was never more proud of my country than during his years in office. There was something very special and unique about Ronald Reagan that can not be easily turned into words; certainly not words that properly describe the feelings he developed in we Americans. I cried the day he left office. I cried the day he passed. And yet those tears were not only tears of sadness, but tears of pride. Pride in knowing I saw the greatest, and pride in knowing I played a part in his service to our country. We are blessed with memories and feel touched by the angels that brought you to us in our time of dark need. We will forever hold you closest to our hearts, our souls, our minds, and our sacred freedoms. God Bless Ronald Reagan.

This country has had some great Presidents, but one would be hard pressed to find a better President than Ronald Regan. A true patriot who truly loved this country.

President Reagan didn't leave office until January 20, 1991

Bush was elected in 1988

"And let me offer lesson number one about America: All great change in America begins at the dinner table. So, tomorrow night in the kitchen I hope the talking begins. And children, if your parents haven't been teaching you what it means to be an American, let 'em know and nail 'em on it. That would be a very American thing to do."
