Where and when did that happen in the past 250 years? France, by and large, has been secular since Napoleon.

France has remarkably few Evangelicals, and the smart ones continue to emigrate, either to the US, or to the former colonies. Louis XIV left a lasting legacy, and must not be forgotten. Remember, the Revolution was against the relatively liberal Louis XVI, not Louis XIV. The French loved the Sun King and his crimes ~ still do!
