I immediately thought those americans they bumped into were CIA. I said so to my friend immediately, and maybe 10 minutes later one of the characters suggested the same thing.

I think the whole thing was juiced up for the movies. Hard to imagine that French guy staying alive, doing what he was doing. Then again, I understand that people really do that. Go figure.

Do you think the statement that the CIA didn't know who the guy was was actually true or fictionalized?

I think that a lot of the stuff in the movie was fictionalized.

I think that aspect of the CIA you mention was fiction, but I don't know.

The movie should have gone on a diet - it could have lost 30 minutes or so and been a better movie. The sexy assassin contributed nothing, and he spent too much time wandering around Brooklyn at the end. Honestly, I thought the movie was ending about 3 times, but it continued.... :-)

I thought it added to the movie. I can see how people would be tempted in that setting not able to contact their loved ones and be vunerable. Although I saw it coming and wondered why if Eric Bana did and did warn his colleague why he didn't warn him about what might happen other than just you know.

Sadly, moral clarity hinges on two essentials which are seldom taught or even acknowledged: A clear philosophy and a logical mind. Without these, "moral ambiguity" (a contradiction in terms)can be foisted on anyone who has relinquished the right to think for themselves.

I don't mind the illicit sex - it's understandable in that situation, as you suggested. But her whole story arc was 15-20 mins or so, it seemed. In a movie approaching 3 hours, I would have lost it.

I think I'll read a book or two about the hit team. Better to separate fact from fiction in the movie. :-)

It's asinine. Spielberg is no moralist and no pragmatist. He's child-like in his approach to this problem.

A useful test in this particular circumstance:

Which of the following is more likely to result in a Middle East peace? Which is more likely to result in a bloodbath?

1. The Israelis lay down their weapons.

2. The Palestinians lay down their weapons.

That Spielberg does not understand this simple proposition is shocking.
