As to why ID has come about in the first place--I'd suggest "arrogance permits no vaccuum" as a political law. I was taught a load of debunked hogwash in my biology classroom. First, that silly chart with the tailed! monkeys morphing their way upwards to what finally resembled a corporate attorney. Then the time I was told that we had to have emerged as a species from other forms because embryos did likewise--and was I amazed when I finally studied embryology and found out what hokum that was--embryos only
model evolution as understood at the time.
Listen to the condescension, the tone of dogma--and stop and consider that evolution takes evidence that reaches backwards and then surmises forward. It goes in two logical directions at once--how much potential for doubt is there in that? And why can't people at least ask?
Because asking threatens the franchise. There's a lot of prestige and money at stake here. At least, the suspicion is raised when you take a close look at how the religious are treated, and start wondering--"What kind of priesthood is this?"
They make some rally nice curved line drawings too, with images of various creatures inserted in at different places.
I like the drawings of the ancient seas with sunbeams flowing through the water, and someones imagination of micro-Diatom precursors all floating about.., awaiting for darwin to say 'the word' /sarc>
Some how it all looks strangely like a corporate personnel chart at the division level.
