In the hypothetical, I took it as the only factor, not one in many :-)
In a non hypothetical, there are many factors. Appearance does make a difference, but if I came in to interview dressed too suggestively then I would be not doing you as my prospective employer, as many favors. Because as an employee it's my job to make you look better.

I did have a student write me love notes when I was a teacher. LOL!
