I this is among the many reasons that I am very uncomfortable with Specter as the head of the judiciary committee. It's not just his pro-life stance, it's his judicial philosophy.

Trouble is, we don't have 50 Conservative Senators. Like it or not, we need some GOP Moderates to get confirmations. As long as Specter votes to confirm Alito I don't care what he says.

A liberal believes that there isn't time to get a judge to rule on a 13-year-old's abortion but there is plenty of time to require a judge to decide if GWB can listen to terrorist phone calls that might provide clues to stop an attack against us.
