There are no police officers I know that are "prefer" or enjoy shooting human beings. They also undergo psychological examinations before ever being hired. Police departments don't want killers on their force.
Now, if you'd rephrase the question to one such as "how many of you are frustrated with the 'justice' system as it is, letting so many convicted criminals walk" you might get more police officers responding to your question.
But gosh darn, there MUST be temptations (or am I the only one who sometimes wants to just string up a bad guy on the spot and make him pay?)
lately there is a brand of cops who... well, won't do anything polite or impolite unless they have approval from lawyers in town...
The American justice system is in shambles.
They may have entered my hallway walking, but the manner in which they exited it is another matter entirely.
Good! Thank you!
Philistone,
you were doing fine, right up until the "...preferably shooting them first" line.
I would have said "no, not ZOTworthy" up until that point.
after that point, I give you odds of 7:4 against seeing the dawn here.
The only officer to respond to this thread understood the question perfectly.
Maybe you need to stop trying to defend those who need no defense.
And we'll see how many police officers you claim to admire respond to your question, as posed.
I guess the antagonistic putz isn't a detective.
John Walsh would be proud!
But before we ZOT anyone, why don't we let the people in queston respond (police officers).
If you are a police officer and have a particular problem with what I have said, than please state it. Otherwise the men in blue are quite capable of defending themselves.
>>>>And before I get ZOTTED, no, I'm not a troll or a DUmmie.
You signed up a few weeks ago and you already know about trolls and zots?
>>>What I'm really trying to find out is would a cop be in a hospital waiting room asking a parent questions while their child was in surgery (if necessary).<<<
That is not an unlikely scenario. (Not a cop - know a few...)
I've known an awful lot of cops over the years. A small number of them were badge-heavy idiots. Even those guys, once they found out what you have to go through in every incident where force is used, got over their tendency to act first and think later.
The one exception discovered one day that the latest in his frequent "officer needs assistance" calls got a r-e-a-l-l-y slow response. When he got out of the hospital, he quit.
There was a time, just after the 2nd semester of 4th grade started, that I was drinking very heavily (3 of those little milk cartons at lunch) and I was taking the job home and found myself isolated from all my friends. While they were out riding their bikes or playing ball, I was at home thinking about Klinger and Finkle while drinking milk right out of the carton.
It was very ugly.
Oh I do!
Look. If someone kidnapped MY daughter, raped her and killed her, I wouldn't hesitate to track down the killer, torture and kill him (or her). That is the natural response. Police officers are no different (except that they have to operate under certain rules of engagement). What I want to know is how that affects them personally, how, and at what point in their careers.
Again, the one officer that has responded to this post understands that.
I'm no troll, but I know WHY I'm NOT a cop. Number one is I refuse to be employed directly by the government, although I'll gladly pay my taxes. Number two is the fact I would be more than willing to backshoot some thief, child molester, or rapist while refusing to enforce any drug or drinking law.
"My name is Hole, and I'm a milkoholic..."
