He isn't really writing a book with a character named "splash" is he?

I thought this was a joke.

If he is, that is truly depraved and sick.

Its a direct taunt.

If it is a joke ... it is a sick one.

Ted Kennedy Update:Splash and Crash!

Word on the Beltway is that Sen. Ted Kennedy's Portuguese water pooch Splash is about to make a Splash on the kiddie-lit front.

Kennedy is in talks with publishers to write a children's book that gives a dog's-eye view of Washington based on the adventures of his loyal canine companion.

``The senator participates in a reading mentor program in D.C.,'' said Kennedy spokesguy David Smith. ``And after seeing the impact and the benefits reading has had on these second-graders, and after seeing how the children really respond to animals, he warmed up to the idea of doing a book.''

Harry Truman once said if you need a friend in Washington, buy a dog. And Splash, who joined the Kennedy clan about four years ago, has been Kennedy's constant companion on the Hill and off.

Ted has taken the pooch to press conferences, lets him loll around his Senate office, and Splash was a regular attendee at meetings to reauthorize the Elementary and Secondary Education Act. Splash and his companion, Sunny, another Portuguese water dog, are Hyannisport regulars and the pooches often accompany Kennedy on his sailing jaunts.

``A friend suggested he do the book and the senator thought it would be a really great way to educate kids about how our government works, specifically the Senate, if they looked at it through the eyes of Splash,'' Smith said.

The book is in its early stages and although Kennedy has spoken to a publisher, it's not a done deal. So do stay tuned. Woof.

7/1/04-Sen. Ted Kennedy's driverless car crashed into three parked vehicles - including one owned by Sen. Rick Santorum - down in D.C. after his driver leaped out to hand the senior senator a cellphone and forgot to put it in park.
