Harper just gave an excellent answer on the "swingers' clubs" question, educating people on the difference between a decision based on criminal law and the Charter.
Martin--no the country wasn't built on American conservative values; it was built on Canadian conservative values, which is why it is beginning to fall apart after so many years of liberal rule.
To: fanfan
I can't believe they're talking about swinger clubs.
To: kanawa
F'n Martin indirectly insulting American values

Well, if it's any guide, the Liberals have fallen four points on the Intrade futures market during the debate so far.

Tums. thanks for the tip--I can feel better AND nip that nascent osteoporosis in the bud!
Gotta put my kids to bed now...
Go Stephen! and goodnight, all. :) (if I can't get back)

Been watching the whole thing, but just joining this thread.
Harper says tax cut for different groups (plus GST cut) [students, families, small business, etc.] and Martin responds that he's cut taxes for lower and middle-class families.

Thanks, I didn't realized that. (I hope I don't need the sarc tag here.) I was trying to give a bit of a play by play.

It's been going okay, but I think Harper has looked very calm and collected overall, Martin has been flying off the handle. One thing that bothered me at the beginning was Harper had this annoying sway that was INCREDIBLY noticable, possibly early debate jitters. Seems to be gone now.
Martin says he's a farmer from Essex County. I know the people that his family bought their house in Windsor from. Let's just say they didn't live on a farm. The only farming he would be doing is an herb garden.
I really am starting to look at this like a football game with Harper marching down the field on Martin's weak defence and Duceppe and Layton yelling obscenities from the sidelines.
Uh oh...Paul Martin going on about STRONG social programs and heath care and how he was Finance Minister.

Gilles Duceppe is absolutely correct. The Liberals are the last people on earth who should be lecturing others about Canadian patriotism. They did what they did to line their own pockets not to secure the country's good. Let's hope people remember what a democratic deficit really means.

Just in the few minutes I've watched, Martin seems like he's on speed or something. Duceppe as well, though not as bad.
