Nope. Operations with the smugglers! The Mexican military has been observed firing on our border patrol agents with automatic weapons on several occasions recently. This has been witnessed by at least one member of Congress that I am aware of.

The media depicts the Triads and Russian mob as more than your regular street gang too. Come to think of it, every underworld community goes through this scrutiny. The press sensationalizes them as, "X is more than just another street gang" as if all street gangs should look like The East Side Kids/Bowery Boys films of the 1930s.

Does anyone remember The Godfather where young Corleone is beginning his rise to the top with the aid of former Italian military personel and smuggled weaponry? IIRC, the scene is set in the puppeteers shop. There's nothing new under the sun.
