Why aren't miners (and others in hazardous jobs) given some kind of GPS locator device so that they can be found quickly in case of an emergency? I guess the mine owners don't want to pay for them?

Just wondering. Seems like a relatively cheap and readily available technology (since I can get it for my dog) that might save a lot of human lives.

Too far ungerground for satellite to receive but with these straight shafts, I think UHF/VHF would work
