If this copy has nothing in it about running around slaying infidels, and more stuff in it about mercy and compassion and all that, then it needs to be distributed as widely as possible.

Wow. Cool.

I would like to get my hands on it and throw it right in a toilet.

As a result, its greatest treasure, the world's oldest Koran, continues to sit quietly in the medieval quarter of old Tashkent.

Well, until NOW, that is.

"But the authoritarian Uzbek government has inherited a Soviet-era distrust of Islam, and still views much of its own Islamic history with suspicion."

See, one can often find a redeeming quality in even the most disgusting places.

Just across the road stands a non-descript mosque and the equally unremarkable Mui-Mubarak, or "Sacred Hair", madrassa, which houses a rarely seen hair of the Muslim Prophet Muhammad, ....

I thought the Muslims did not have relics? So they do worship objects.

Putin says Russia is Islam's best friend. In the case of Uzbekistan, he is certainly right. The murdering dictator "Islam" Karimov is Putin's good comrade. Putin and Karimov are doing the Taliban's dirty work in Central Asia by demanding, in solidarity with the Ayatollahs and Red China, US withdrawal from the war on terror.

Maybe Karimov can teach Putin how to be a good little dhimmi.
