Ted Kennedy, Russ Feingold Discuss Impeachment

Two leading Senate Democrats declined on Sunday to rule out the possibility that President Bush could be impeached over his decision to wiretap terrorists who make phone calls to the U.S.

Asked about Rep. John Lewis' complaint that the Bush surveillance program could be an impeachable offense, Sen. Ted Kennedy told ABC's "This Week": "I'm concerned about the abuses of executive power in the areas of torture and the areas of spying - and about how we're treating individuals in terms of the court systems."

The Massachusetts Democrat said he agreed with Supreme Court Justice Sandra Day O'Connor, whom he quoted as saying: "We're at war but war is not a blank check to a president to override the rights and liberties of the Constitution."

"I don't believe that this president understands that," Kennedy added.

In separate comments covered by the Vermont Guardian, Sen. Russ Feingold told reporters that there needs to be "an orderly and dignified" investigation into the Bush surveillance program.

"If there was a legal violation there needs to be accountability," he said. "You can't put the cart before the horse, but I would not rule out any form of accountability."

That would include impeachment, Feingold reportedly added.

Asked by a supporter whether there was a way citizens could impeach Bush "here and now," the Wisconsin Democrat replied: "I'm not going to prejudge what that accountability should be."

This is too funny.Does the good Senator understand that there is no constitutional basis for the remedy that the question proposes?

I would imagine he does but still couldn`t bring himself to give a straight answer to an idiotic question.

True to lib form he probably needs to take a poll first.

Everyone should read Leo Damore's "Senatorial Privilege" about the details of Chappaquiddick - or at the least visit ytedk.com.

I can't believe the idiots of this state continue to elect "The Swimmer" at each election. I can't wait to piss on this scumbag's grave some day ...

The wisdom of this must be determined by this question: Is Ted going to impeach Feingold, or vice versa?

As long as they are discussin' impeachment, I say: impeach 'em both!

Does that fat drunken pig actually believe that the Constitution applies to terrorists or their sympathizers who are in this country illegally and who are plotting to kill innocent Americans? And if they are citizens, what ever happened to "high treason"? If the likes of Fat Teddy were in charge in WWII, I swear we'd all be speaking German!!!

Oh! I would LOVE to see them try this. We would get a veto-proof super-majority in both houses.

I wonder what we can do to egg them on? Freepers, if you live in a Democratic district, maybe a spurious letter to your congressman calling for Bush's impeachment. Letters to the editor in heavily Democratic cities would be OK too. Let's really whip up the foaming-mouth crazies!

Right after Ted "the Swimmer" Kennedy is indicted and tried for treason, found guilty and sent to the gallows or put before a firing squad.

Why can't we just impeach "Teddy." I realize that MA is a super-liberal state, but can't they really see what a sleazy guy Kennedy really is?

Ted Kennedy is just a drunken clod and I don't give a crap about any of his rambling, stuttering emissions.

Senator Russ Feingold, however, is of sound mind but not judgment. For this clown to be lecturing ANYBODY about Constitutional rights is an extreme insult. He and Senator John McCain authored the greatest restrictions of our freedoms since the Alien and Sedition Act with their Campaign Finance Reform Act a.k.a. The Incumbent Protection Act a.k.a. The Free Speech Limitation Act.

I can't think of any legislators more deserving of being dragged out of their offices by their ankles and tied upside down to a lamp post by a torch and pitchfork wielding mob than these two asses.
