Democrats will not tolerate any deviation from the party line. It's probably a remnant from being so aligned with the unions. And now, the special interest groups demanding allegiance.

I fell asleep with the TV on last night and I have no idea what station I woke up to, but it was a group of women mostly feminist types and one black Conservative woman discussing the Alito nomination. Half asleep I got the distinct understanding that try as they might, they cannot see a scenario where Alito will not be confirmed because as one of them said, he has ruled for Unions more than he has against them much more than the average GOP jurist has. If he has ruled favorably for the Unions at times, they will not go up against him as enthusiastically as they would another Gop'r with less positive rulings for them. The Conservative black woman was doing a good job, and the others did not seem harsh, just stuck on stupid cliche's and their own ignorance about the man. I wish I was more wide awake and did not switch the station so fast so I could at least know what it was. It may have been ABC which I never watch except for the Playoff Football game and the local News afterward.
