So very true. It is only when a society develops homogenously and in isolation that a shored national identity begins to form. When you have a wholly tolerant (i.e. identityless) society, you can't form an identity outside of that.
Here's an interesting article on the falling Dutch birthrates, the fall of traditionalism and the accompanying ballooning rates of out-of-wedlock childbearing, all accompanying the push for same-sex marriages. A society that gives up what it has stood for in the name of "otherness" is, by definition, decaying.
