No, I am the "honest liberal"

Hey, at least I was kind enough to call you a moderate. No need to get nasty.

actually- you read too many liberal sources....

have you READ the speeches that Bush gave leading up to the invasion of Iraq?

First things first....

1) We would have NEVER invaded Iraq if the APPEASEMENT (oil for food CROOKS) had given a united front. I was married to a con artist.. they will continue to lie, cheat, and deceive as long as ANYONE is willing to bite. Not until you ALL face them down and shove the truth in their nose will they ever budge....

2) The REASONS (I know this is hard- but notice the PLURAL there) for invading Iraq were very well stated. Just because the MSM blew the WMD whistle endlessly- (they like to do that, latch onto the "zing" factor that scares people...."Is your drinkg water safe? Tune in next week for our undercover report....") does not mean that this is the "reason" the President trumpeted.

3) THE BIG PICTURE-- (I know it is hard to look at BIG pictures- but try-- take an aspirin if it starts to hurt) REMOVING Saddam was creating PEACE and STABILITY in the Middles East. We took an ENEMY-- A SWORN ENEMY- and now- NOT only have an ally- but we have a DEMOCRACY! Once they get a taste of freedom- they will know that it is worth fighting for and dying for-- instead of blaming people with freedom. The neighbors will want it too!

By your little economic panic-- we should just say- "Oh well, I like freedom, but I might have to give up my BMW or X BOX......decisions, decisions....."

It's lame-- You do not understand......read the tagline....

Let's assume that Joseph Stiglitz economic accounting is correct. His argument can be refuted with rather simple reasoning.

In Vietnam we maintained 4 times the troop levels for 4 times longer than in Iraq, indicating that 'Nam cost us 16 times more than Iraq.  Troop loses in 'Nam were 30 times greater at 58,000 than the 2,000 in Iraq. The same ratio should apply directly to wounded and permanently maimed troops. Actually probably higher in Vietnam vets as they didn't have all the Kevlar we do today.

The exact logic this man uses about monies spent in Iraq could have been used in other areas in America applies to the '60s as much as the '00s.

As a matter of fact this logic applies to WWII also where we lost 280,000 men and had 30 times as many in uniform being supported around the entire globe, not just Iraq, and the support costs HAD to be more than 30 times the costs in Iraq.  Logistics of supporting troops scattered around the planet are exponentially greater than a small country.

All in all, if this man is correct, America bellied up around 1947 and never recovered.

The point is, even if the total long term costs of Iraq are 2 trillion dollars, it is over a very long period of time. Past wars were significantly more costly by huge factors compared to Iraq and they didn't bury us.

One doesn't have to be an economist to recognize logical fallacies!

BTW Billy Bob, I haven't seen twaddle in use for years, thanks for the belly laugh...

All the economists in the world, laid end to end, would not reach a decision.
