I hate to say it, but Pence is too conservative and therefore not "popular" enough amongst other House members to win that vote. I hope it happens, but I'm not holding my breath. Do you know if he even wants that post?

He would have to make a deal with the moderates.He is about 40 votes short.I have always said it would be easier for Pence to win the 08 nomination that Speaker or Majority Leader.There is a Draft among the RSC to get Pence in the race.

If you're correct in your assessment that GOP candidates may be "too conservative" to win (opinions within their own ranks), then the GOP is going down in flames quickly.

Moving toward the Center will be the Republican's kiss of death.
