But knowing when to retreat so you can fight another day is very important. It was time for Tom to go and he did the right thing.

My post #123 reminds the reader that it was DeLay himself who insisted on reinstating the GOP rule requiring stepping down from leadership position on indictment. I think DeLay is playing for keeps, long run.

It is widely speculated that Hastert will retire in 2008. DeLay must think he has a good shot (if he is cleared of the various charges/allegations), or he would have retired otherwise.

Me too. I think Earle and the rest will rue the day they tried to 'off' the Exterminator. He's had lots of experience killing rats.
