I disagree.... DeLay lost in his effort to get the indictments squashed or thrown out in Texas by the time Congress convenes again. Had he been able to have done that then the house wouldn't be in limbo for a Majority Leader. Because he still can't resume the duties of Majority Leader others have started the petition to have an election. I think DeLay relized he needed to step aside and did for the best of the Party.
Now the Abramoff thing may be much bigger in the longer run but so far no indictments have been forth coming. Time will tell on it. It most likely will encompass more than just one or two members of congress.
Don't you think that IF they had anything to tie Delay directly to wrongdoing RE: Abramoff, that news would have been out last week...when Abramoff spilled his guts???
I have heard several "experts" say that in cases like Abramaoffs, they are SURE to get any and all important people that might be involved, testified to right then...because then, at a later date, Abramoff wouldn't be able to come back and deny that he fingered so-and-so.
