Let me disagree on your perspective on the euthenasia issue in Million Dollar Baby,a film I truly thought was excellent.
I see the point that euthenasia could be used in a Hitlerian way to get rid of those who are not "fit" and I certainly think people like Kevorkian are ghouls.
HOWEVER-lets be honest-if YOU were the girl in Million Dollar Baby and you faced a life in a semi-vegatative state, what would YOU do?
Personally,I would have done what the Eastwood character did.
Flame away.
I'm confused. Who was making the decision?
Oh, that is a rhetorical question, by the way.
My point is about promoting the movie to be one thing and then have it be totally about something else. This was done to suck us into sympathizing with people doing something illegal, immoral, and totally unexpected. Whether or not I would want to live in a permanently incapacitated state is a bridge I will cross when I come to it. Hopefully, it will still be my decision and not the ghouls waiting to off me just to save money. To ask a loved one to kill me to put me out of my misery is the height of selfishness - hopefully I don't know anyone who could do this and still live with him/herself.
Taking into account "the Next Karate Kid" and "Sometimes They Come Back... Again": 'million dollar baby' was payback.
