I wouldn't classify Purina or Whiskas as 'the best'. They are as corn-based as any of the grocery store brands... The key is whether your animals seem to thrive on them. This could happen to any commercial food.

They do. I do know cats are obligate carnivores and yes, I feed semi moist meat pouches every day, in addition to the usual kibble fare. You know, our pets like food variety as much as we do.

Is there any real meat based dry food for cats and dogs and are they better than the corn based brands? Is there a difference in terms of nutritional quality and would you pay the extra expense to keep your pets healthy and happy? Opinions on the subject are welcome.

I feed my dog (16 years old) Bil Jac frozen dog food (thawed out) and loves it. Any bad reports on that?
