Bush, Rice prepare for possible Israel trip

The U.S. State Department has announced that President George W. Bush and Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice have cleared their schedule for early next week in case they need to travel to Israel should Prime Minister Ariel Sharon die.

Earlier it was reported that Rice canceled a trip to Indonesia and Australia because of concerns over the condition of critically ill prime minister, said officials informed of the decision on Friday.

A U.S. official, who asked for anonymity because he was not authorized to discuss the trip plans, said Rice did not "Want to be a long way from Israel should he die." A second official also confirmed the decision.

Friday evening, Rice phoned Acting Prime Minister Ehud Olmert and told him all Americans were praying for Sharon's wellbeing.

"We're thinking about you," Rice was quoted as saying.

Olmert thanked the secretary of state and briefed her on Sharon's condition following the third surgery. He said the situation was grave but a little more optimism prevails this evening.

The acting prime minister also asked Rice to express her gratitude to President Bush.

Sharon was fighting for his life on Friday. Surgeons managed to stop new bleeding in his brain in an emergency operation and he remained in critical but stable condition, a doctor said.

President Bush is not afraid. He is at peace in his own heart. He is confident and strong. He will demonstrate what a great Leader he is by going there. He and Condi. God bless them and give them safe journey if and when they must go say farewell to a good friend.

Bad feeling about this. We needed Sharon around for the Iran operation. Now we'll have to see if Olmert has the stomach to carry it out.

Be Seeing You,

Chris

"I don't want Bush anywhere near Israel right now Bad feeling in my Belly." Mine also. Should Sharon die it's going to be a lot of Qassam's and Kaytusha's and really rough dealings on all the borders. Not a good time for a walk in the park though I'd love to watch them stomp a little on the Temple Mount

Distance between Denpasar, Bali, Indonesia and Jerusalem, Israel, as the crow flies:

5954 miles (9582 km) (5174 nautical miles)

Distance between Washington, District of Columbia, United States and Jerusalem, Israel, as the crow flies:

5913 miles (9517 km) (5139 nautical miles)

Yeah, wouldn't want to get so much further away.

My first thought too. Our president is not afraid to do his duty.
I pray God will protect him every day.

Maybe the Jews can teach him how to build a wall to protect his border. They have.
