Oh... my mom gave all her vinyl albums to her brother to
hold onto, he won't give them back (he was horrified by
the thought she'd actually play them). She played some of
them so much, they're worn white. When they were talking
last time, she told him putting a coin on the arm of the
record player would make them play... he nearly had a
heart-attack. The albums I have are on tape (Meet The
Beatles, Something New, Rubber Soul & Help!). My mom
bought them before the songs & albums were scrambled.

I purchased a turntable just so I could play and record my albums (I own many thousands). Alas, most of them, after more than 30 years of lugging around and various cats tap-dancing on them are not pristine enough to record. I do, however, prefer the warm sound of vynal to CDs and I can abide a pop or a skip easier than I can some of the glitches and bleeeps that crop up on MP3's. Tell your Ma to hang onto those LPs, they'll be worth a lot on eBay.
