"It's a small country school where stuff like that won't play. They still have Christmas plays and teach them patriotic songs."

I guess I squeaked through during the last good years of NY public schools.

I remember reciting the Pledge(with God in it) and singing the national anthem every single day in elementary school. We put on Christmas and Hannukah plays even though my school was almost 20% muslim. Lessons had no politics or alternate lifestyles. Sex-ed consisted of "If you share fluids, you will get AIDS and die a painful, guaranteed death".

Some of my friends have younger siblings that went to the same schools. There's no more pledge or Christmas plays. Teachers would turn on the radio in class to listen about the Clinton-Monica fiasco and have a discussion. Sex-ed consists of "Here's how people have sex. Don't have sex, wink-wink, but if you do, put on a condom and cross your fingers". The standards got lowered so much that these are more like indoctrination camps than schools.

This article is right on. I have an EXTREMELY leftist World History Teacher who daily rants about our President and calls anyone who votes for him to be outright stupid. She is VERY open in her political beliefs to the class and baisically does not tolerate any other opinions, although I have tried on various occaisions to point out where she is wrong. (which is everyone!) To make a perfect example, yesterday she said Hillary Clinton would make a WONDERFUL President. I almost puked.

I remember reciting the Pledge(with God in it)

They still do.

We didn't have sex-ed when I went to school. We weren't allowed to even say the word.

It's sad what's happened to our schools today. We pump billions of dollars into them and all they seem to learn is what a bad country this is, and that there's nothing wrong with an alternative lifestyle.
