(AgapePress) -- A union watchdog group says a new disclosure report confirms that the nation's largest teachers union, the National Education Association (NEA), is heavily involved in the wider liberal political movement and the Democratic Party.
Earlier this week, the Wall Street Journal reported that the NEA gave $65 million last year to liberal groups such as People for the American Way, the Rainbow/PUSH Coalition, the Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD), and the Human Rights Campaign, which is the largest pro-homosexual lobby in the U.S.
In the past, unions with at least one private sector member have had to report their costs and expenses, but they have been able to lump them into large categories such as contributions, gifts, and grants. But now, under new federal rules, the NEA must detail where all its grants have gone, down to $5,000.
Mike Antonucci with the California-based Education Intelligence Agency has been monitoring the NEA for years. He says the new rules have not changed the NEA's political activity, but they help reveal the union's extensive contributions to left-wing causes.
"Now we can see with our own eyes where [a lot of this money] is going," Antonucci explains, "and we can't just sit around and accept the union's explanation that 'Oh, this is going to improve public education' [or] whatever words they use to describe it."

I thought there was an audit initiated on these
NEA folks some time back, wonder whatever became of that?
I recall hearing Mark Levin on KSFO as being behind that audit being initiated s part of a legal action .

Doesn't surprise me one bit!! In fact to me, it's what is called, common knowledge. Which is why sending kids to public school is getting more and more unpopular, and schools are struggling with enrollment. Enrollments equal tax dollars to the schools.

Last time I checked union dues didn't go anywhere but into the union. Such monies don't go into the public school budgets. The only type of "education" improvements would for teacher training or such like activities.

The NEA is infested with Marxists and the sun rises in the east every morning. You learn something new everyday.

I wonder how much the NEA spends each year to battle the ongoing epidemic and coverup of the hundreds of its union members arrested for sexually assaulting children?

Exactly! The emphasis should be on educating kids so they can read and write and graduate. But no, the emphasis is on keeping incompetents employed no matter who gets hurt.

The "Libertarian Message" is one of encouragement. We can save our children from the leftist takeover (NEA, et al) of the public school system and from its nefarious indoctrinations.
Excerpt article dated 11-22-05, by Eric Garris titled The Internet Vs. the State http://www.lewrockwell.com
With the explosion of information especially, a transformation of publishing and information distribution that compares only to the invention of the printing press, one is tempted to wonder how long it will take for the people to realize how bad a deal public education really is. In the near future, people will see that the failing pubic school system can easily be replaced with a more customized, and far less-expensive system of learning.
The spontaneous order that has cultivated a free market in ideas, goods and services online has unmistakably been met with approval by the masses. It is a genuine market, open to everyone for miniscule start-up and administrative costs and nothing like the barriers of entry we see in the highly regulated industries of realspace. It is no surprise that most of the major Web sites and companies eBay, Yahoo, Google, Pay Pal, Amazon lean so heavily toward freedom and against the state. Unlike the big businesses of the mercantilist realspace economy, the big players in e-commerce tend to see the government more as a clumsy obstacle, or more likely, a nonentity rushing to catch up to the technology of 1997, rather than as a major player to lobby for kickbacks and favors. There are surely big software and hardware companies that are not so favorable toward freedom, but they are almost all in bed with the state in one way or another, and so have a vested interest in the corporate state surviving. Like the state itself, they will be on the losing side of history.
And when we see the way the state regards the Internet, we can only smile. Half the time the politicians claim enthusiasm. The other half they appear afraid, such as when they threaten to censor, tax or regulate it. But it is clear that the political establishment has no idea whatsoever what it's up against, and those of us who love liberty can only cheer.
