Weird!
I look in the mirror and see some old guy!
What does this have to do with psychology? Silly me, I learned about optics in a college physics course.
I guess I've never spent much time contemplating the mirror.
In the big list of simple stuff that most humans don't understand, this doesn't make page one. Half of the world's population still thinks socialism works.
The problem with mirrors is that they make things look backwards but not upside down. They only reverse one way. This is proof that space is one-dimensional and that plane geometry is fallacious. Next we will take a look at plane psychiatry.
"Participants were also asked to estimate the image size of their head as it appears on the surface of the mirror. They estimated that it would be a similar size to their physical head. However, participants based their answer on the image they saw inside the mirror rather than on the image on the surface of it. They failed to recognise that the image on the surface of the mirror is half the size of the observer because a mirror is always halfway between the observer and the image that appears inside the mirror."
If this were so, then of what use would an overhead projector be?
BTW, birds have absolutely no problem figuring out how to find something, the location of which is known only from a reflection in a mirror.
That's because birds are "different".
This may explain why I see a beautiful young woman when I look in the mirror, but an old hag when I see a photo of myself. Kinda sad.... ;(
Hold a bottle of EVIAN water up to a mirror the next time you have one handy. You'll see a remarkable truth about the bottled water industry and, at the same time, about the truths about government funding that the folks who perform studies like this count on.
God might have made a big mirror, Perhaps were on the other side, Perhaps were the wrong way around. Yeah thats why we get it all wrong.

Even funnier is how few people understand color. As someone, if there is no light is your car still Blue????
They think it is a trick question like if a tree falls in the woods...thats redikerous.
More idiots that couldn't make a living in the outside world testing idiots so they can get more government money.
Why use a politician psychologist for this? Why not simply put engineers and scientists in control of education? nah, that would too practical and efficient, these people would hurt the stupid kids' feelings..
Uh... Somebody was looking for a thesis topic in the psychology department?
What do I win?
Me thinks it's just the Dims who don't understand.
Mirrors show ... nothing!
Here's a fun experiment. Stand a comfortable arm's length from a mirror, close one eye, and with an erasable marker trace the image of your face. It will be sloppy, but it will look like you, and it will be exactly 1/2 actual size. Now, assuming the mirror is mounted vertically, back away from the mirror and you will see that your face continues to be overlayed by the tracing, no matter how far away you get!

Helen's still trying to figure out why mirrors shatter. |
I like those bathrooms with medicine cabinets on the two corner walls. When you open one a little bit and look in the other, you can stand there at the toilet and see yourself as you look to others rather than as a regular reflection. Sigh.
