Or else he's paving the way for his next career--GOP-bashing ex GOPer. Look at Pat Buchanan. He's the model. You can get plenty of tv gigs and you get to be on Imus in the morning, as long as you bash your own party. I expect that's where this is headed for Santorum.

This is obviously a desperation move, just as his flip-flop on ID was.

Bush needs his support, not another "nonpartisan panel."

This is extremely disappointing, coming from a Senate leader. He won't pick up a single Democrat vote, but will likely lose some GOP support.
