1/5/2006 - WASHINGTON (AFPN) -- The Air Force will reactivate the 65th Aggressor Squadron at Nellis Air Force Base, Nev., Jan. 12.
In a letter to Airmen, Gen. T. Michael Moseley, Air Force chief of staff, cited the history of the unit as legendary and said the aggressors will directly contribute to the combat capability of our Airmen.
The 65th and other aggressor units will provide realistic adversary training in air, space and information operations that make us even better, General Moseley said. Their training will keep us innovative as we fight this global war on terror and defend this great nation in the face of modern threats and tactics that continue to proliferate.
We have to have adversarial training to remain razor sharp, he said.
The unit will stand up with nine F-15C Eagles, and later will be expanded to a total of 24 fighters. The squadron was last active in 1989 when it operated F-5E Tiger II aircraft.
Once active, the squadron will fly alongside the F-16 Fighting Falcons of the 64th Aggressor Squadron -- part of the Air Forces advanced composite force training team.
In the letter, the general also said advanced adversarial training will better prepare Airmen. He also urged people to use these opportunities to continually innovate and improve our tactics, technologies and training.
If we do that then we will continue to dominate air, space and cyberspace, General Moseley said.

My Son is a Weapons Directer in the Air force. He is in Iraq right now and is slated to move to Nellis AFB when he returns.
He will be in the F22 program.
Iceman, lookout! Joker's on your six!
Need a Foxhole Flight ping.
Check 6! Ooh...this is exciting! I'm retired USAF...love it all!
AIM HIGH, BABY!
Been there, done that.
We used to have two Aggressor Sqd's of F-5's, the 64th and the 65th.
And, on a regular basis, they kicked a$$ on their "opponents".
Glad to see the 65th re-activated.

Good. Then they can stop calling the Navy and Marines to beg for adversary support.
Great news. My youngest brother is retired Air Force still working for an IT contractor at Nellis where he was stationed for his last eleven years.
See if you can get him to send you some images of the squadron aircraft paint schemes and aircraft to put up.
"Thats a negative Ghost Rider, the pattern is full!"

OohAh!
That was Navy. This is Air Force. You Puke! (a term of a certain amount of affection and only mild derision in the Air Force).
Navy Pukes, played by wacked out anti military liberal actors.
And the special effects stank too. (Good score though) and Kelly McGillis was a Babe. Goose was a pretty good guy, but he didn't deserve Meg Ryan. Cruise and Maverick both have egos the size of the world trade center. At least Maverick had some talent.
I ran into Kelly McGillis, she was nothing to look at. I guess tons of makeup will cover anything.
I still watch TopGun everytime it comes on. Right up there with Navy Seals starring Charlie Sheen.
