I joined the military as a temporary thing until I decide to grow up...still deciding...
Heh, I hear ya. I have that "Starship Trooper" moment every so often, when I get new people. They are so young and naive! Was I ever like that? Yes, I guess I was. But I still like to look over at my fellow "old guys" and say, "Who let the grade-schoolers in here?"
And I'm hardly old--I turn 31 this year. I joined when I was 18.
