General Pace is in the USMC isn't he? Maybe he can throw Murtha in the brigg for conduct unbecoming to the Corps?
Also, because the military answers to civilian authority, not the other way around. Rep. Murtha is perfectly free to go right on being Stupid In Public.
But he's still a disgusting gasbag.
You can watch it live on CSPAN 2, at 7pm
But only the ones who "speak out" against, Bush, the war, or Global Warming, get air time or column inches. Those that support the president and the war, well you're lucky if you've event heard of them.
Murtha obtained that rank as a reservist, IIRC. Reservists have the same free speach rights as anyone else, as long as it does violate the various security agreements one has signed. But, regular or reserve, once retired the military would have to call you back up, that is move you from the retired list to the active list, before they can give you any kind of orders. An order to shut up would likely be considered an illegal order, and thus one that need not be obeyed.
Then the issue of Murtha being a Congressman, with specific Consitutional protections for anything he might say, at least on the floor of the House. (Art I sec. 6)
Thanks for the info...

Benedict Arnold was a far greater hero and leader than Murtha ever was. We all know how Arnold turned out. Murtha is a modern day turncoat.
The Democrats will go after Gen Pace now. Mark my words. Whether it is behind closed doors, or through the budget process, or by any means they deem necessary, they have their long knives out for him.
I am not kidding. He better be careful, because the Democrats know his comments are extremely embarrassing to them. The Dems and their allies in the MSM have a vindictive streak a mile long.
Ditto, Thanks for saving me the typing. ;-)
that's going to sting
