Legislating from the bench again. Florida schools are doomed. The Courts have put the legislature in a straight jacket. Basically, they are blackballing any idea that the legislature might come up with that would fix the problem, other than the higher taxes, which the voters will reject. So that leaves the Florida schools with no alternative but to sink further into the mire.

Legislating from the bench again.

The FL constitution pretty much micromanages the schooling of children and it essentially mandates public schooling. It was adopted in 2002 and sounds like it was written by the NEA:

Adequate provision shall be made by law for a uniform, efficient, safe, secure, and high quality system of free public schools that allows students to obtain a high quality education and for the establishment, maintenance, and operation of institutions of higher learning and other public education programs that the needs of the people may require.

We conservatives should be happy about it. FLA's liberal judicial overlords are demonstrating no reform of a failed system is possible.
