The Most High rules in the kingdom of men
Jerusalem Newswire ^ | 2-5-06 | Stan Goodenough

As I write this, Ariel Sharon is lying on an operating table in a Jerusalem hospital, fighting for his life after suffering a massive stroke and intense cerebral hemorrhaging.

The news of his collapse shocked all who heard about it, sending many people to prayer for his recovery and well being.

Senior officials close to Sharon have expressed pessimism about whether the prime minister will survive the night.

Speculation on all the Israeli and major international news networks is rife, even frenzied, as to the impact Sharon’s illness will have on the upcoming Israeli elections in the short term and on the Israeli-Arab peace process in the long term...............

Sharon’s willingness to proceed with the forced removal of his people from their homes in Gaza pushed hundreds of thousands of Jews to prayer. Untold numbers of Christians, too, went to prayer for divine intervention. God-fearing men, women and children proclaimed their belief that the “disengagement” would never take place; that the Almighty would step in and perform a miracle.

The miracle never came, and just over four months ago the world watched and applauded, while many believers watched and wept, as Jewish communities were erased from the map of Gaza, and thousands of Israelis became refugees in their own land at the hands of their own government.

There is no doubt that the prayers and tears reached to heaven, and were heard there. God, whose ways are not our ways, did not step in to prevent the expulsion. He has, however, stepped in now......

Is that you, Pat?

At least Robertson has an excuse - he's getting senile. What's you're excuse, jerkwad? Gloating over someone getting a stroke. Sick.

No one is gloating. You should read the article before you call the author a jerkwad.

from the article: May God have mercy and show compassion to Mr. Sharon, restoring him to health and strength.

I read it. The article said prayers were answered and God is punishing Sharon with a stroke. Sounds like gloating to me. And the kind of think jerkwads like Pat Robertson and this dude would say.

I think you misread or read into what is said, God will not be mocked. Wasn't it the prime minister before Sharon that gave away land and was assassinated shortly after. I don't think he means ill will towards Sharon. He is just pointing out the law of reaping and sewing...IMHO.

Ah. God is mocked because Sharon removed some illegal settlements. And God hit him was a stroke. Couldn't be that Sharon was grossly overweight and in his late seventies.

That's sick.

As a colleague told me in reaction this evening: “It is hard to ignore the fact that after so many years of being so strong, Sharon suddenly goes down just months after dividing the land and promising to do so again.”

Jews who believe in G-d and His Torah do not believe in the idea of coincidence - everything happens for a reason, even if we mere mortals do not understand it (and even if it is a truly monstrous event like a war or a genocide). I'm not saying that Sharon had this stroke because of dividing the Land, but neither am I discounting that possibility to zero (as others do).

"Couldn't be that Sharon was grossly overweight and in his late seventies."

That would be my first guess at why he had a stroke.

Cmon Freepers, we have identified the Staw Man argument on many threads here, now were are faced with another fallacy....

Post Hoc Ergo Procter Hoc....After this therefore because of this. Sharon gave land away....then had a stroke...the two MUST be related.....gag me!

Many biblical scholars do believe that is in fact what happened.

Sharon has divided the land...God will not be mocked. If you had a better understanding of Old Testament you might be able to see my position clearer. I cannot say with certainty that this is 100% the hand of God slapping down Sharon...but nonetheless it is an interesting "coincidence".

Are we next?

Well, let's see - Shortly after the forced eviction of Jews from Gaza, Katrina hit and pretty much destroyed the hometown of the Bush Administration advisor who pushed Israel the hardest (Condi Rice). You can argue that it was a total coincidence, that one had nothing to do with the other, but maybe there is a connection. Only someone who is totally closed-minded would say that there is no chance of there being a connection.

You are partially correct - The P. M. before Sharon was Ehud Barak. The first Israeli P.M. to give away land for peace was Yitzhak Rabin

Rabin signed the Oslo agreement with Arafat on Sept 13 1993

Signed another agreement with Arafat expanding Palestinian autonomy on Sept 28 1995

Assasinated Nov 4 1995
