I thought the church last year claimed that it was the communists (specifically the soviets) that had wanted Pope John Paul II killed.
As for Reagan, nobody could have paid Hinkley to shoot Reagan (they could have impersonated Jodie Foster maybe), but that guy was out and out, and is still out and out nuts.
Obviously, I don't believe the Bush/Hinkley story.
I remember an old SNL skit where 'Reagan' writes a letter to Hinkley telling him that Tip O'Neil is sleeping with Jodie Foster.
In one episode of the Family Guy, Hinkley is released, and fires a gun into the air. Out of nowhere, Jodie Foster walks up and says "wow, you fired that gun reeeaaal gooood. Maybe I was wrong about you." and they walk off arm in arm. HA!
