But despite the fact that most conservatives would shun his candidacy like the plague, liberal pundits will nonetheless chant "Rudy, Rudy, Rudy," for months to come.

I've always liked this Lisa Fabrizio. A most prescient viewpoint, wouldn't you agree, T?

One of the most interesting races was in 1980. John Anderson who was a RINO, first ran in the Republican primaries and then ran as a third party candidate.

The media was convinced that Anderson would draw enough votes away from Reagan to reelect Carter. But when the votes were counted Reagan had nearly 44 million votes Carter 35 million and Anderson 5 plus million.

If one compares the 1980 votes for Carter against the 1976 Carter vote it would appear that Anderson drew 5 million votes from Carter.

The polls proved McCain only appealed to Democrats in 2000. McCain did his best in states where Democrats were allowed to vote in the Republican primary. Otherwise he was in the also ran category. Thus it follows that McCain would get Democrat votes if he runs as a third party.

I predict that in 2008 as in 1980 a McCain running as a 3rd party candidate would draw more votes from the Democrat than he would from the Republican.

If the media did not shoot itself in the rump, we would have to do it for them.

I agree. It's a pretty easy prediction: McCain did exactly that in the open primaries: Sucked votes away from some Democrat.

Hey, I read your blog you linked once. I liked it a lot. When it comes to knowing how the media operate, you're tops.
