BTW, you're not thread jumping. Just jump right in any time you want.
Hemmer has been pretty decent throughout this whole thing.
"IMO, a media person overheard (evesdropping) 6 words or less... and ran with it to be the 'breaking news'"
The media got the information from the families. That's been fairly well documented. I'm not really sure what you're basing 'your opinion' on.
My mom said the same thing...more or less.
My DH is grinning at me, saying I should lighten up and quit over-reacting about the F-word. I can't win today, LOL.

I was just at the grocery store and the big headline on the Settle Times, was "12 ARE ALIVE."
I couldn't believe they went ahead with that headline.
John Gibson just did the very same thing on his "My Word" segment. He says it's the public's fault because we want live feed and don't want them to take the time to verify the news before reporting it. That is the biggest bunch of CYA BS I have ever heard. Are they in the business of giving the public the FACTS or what they think we want to hear. Hey, John, I want a million dollars. Are you going to give that to me too?
Hey, we're of the age where we do react pretty negatively to the "F" word; nothing the younger generation tells us will change that, probably.
But I am sort of laughing thinking how absolutely green with envy they are sounding these days. I'd better go fix dinner or Mr P might start saying some blue words himself :-)
If that was all we wanted, we could just hire a couple of illegals, give them a camera and pay them $10.00 an hour, the result would be the same.
Sometimes it's best not to speak out when people still have hope.
I heard his sophomoric rant....
The media had no confirmation that what they were reporting was, in fact, true. I don't mind one bit that they were reporting what they were seeing and hearing...but I think they should have made it clear that the info had not been confirmed by any authorities.
Remember, he'd been up without sleep for a long time. He was the best out of all of them though.
Companies just can't pay off citations and not fix things. I don't know where you are getting that. It doesn't matter if it is a union company or not, they all have to follow the same regulations. My dad has 45 employees and trust me when I tell you that nothing brings fear to a business owner than the page for a secretary saying "OSHA is here for a surprise inspection." He has had citations for walkways not being wide enough by a couple of inches, a garbage can with some garbage around it instead of in it and one employee said that he didn't receive instruction on lock out tag out procedures and stuff like that. In actuality, the employee did, and signed the sheet the day the safety videos were played. Companies have to show proof, and with major infractions, a follow up visit that things are fixed in a certain amount of time. If working conditions are unsafe, then a shutdown would be ordered.
Wow...and they kid me here that I must be in hiding from my past!!
working conditions are unsafe..

About safety-- Shouldn't there be more than one way out of a mine. I didn't see any yesterday on the news/diagrams of this mine. Maybe company's could design their mines to include escape routes.
