Document seen by Guardian details web of front companies and middlemen
The Iranian government has been successfully scouring Europe for the sophisticated equipment needed to develop a nuclear bomb, according to the latest western intelligence assessment of the country's weapons programmes. Scientists in Tehran are also shopping for parts for a new ballistic missile capable of reaching Europe, with "import requests and acquisitions ... registered almost daily", the report seen by the Guardian concludes.
The 55-page intelligence assessment, dated July 1 2005, draws upon material gathered by British, French, German and Belgian agencies and has been used to brief European government ministers and to warn leading industrialists of the need for vigilance when exporting equipment or expertise to so-called rogue states. It concludes that Syria and Pakistan have also been buying technology and chemicals needed to develop rocket programmes and to enrich uranium. It outlines the role played by Russia in the escalating Middle East arms build-up, and examines the part that dozens of Chinese front companies have played in North Korea's nuclear weapons programme.
The leak of the intelligence report may signal a growing frustration at Iran's refusal to bow to western demands that it abandon its programme to produce fuel for a Russian-built nuclear reactor due to come on stream this year. The assessment declares that Iran has developed an extensive web of front companies, official bodies, academic institutes and middlemen dedicated to obtaining - in western Europe and the former Soviet Union - the expertise, training, and equipment for nuclear programmes, missile development, and biological and chemical weapons arsenals. "In addition to sensitive goods, Iran continues intensively to seek the technology and know-how for military applications of all kinds," it says.

The Iranians are just embracing the PC Multi-cultural mantra: "We can learn soooooooooo much from other cultures!"

And, typically of the Europeans, there will be somebody fool enough to sell them the parts. Maybe Austrians: like they did with the Steyr sniper rifles. No problem arming one's enemy, so long as there's a healthy margin to be made.
And I wonder when the head of the U.N. jetted over to Iran to let them know we are coming???? Someone should take that pencil necked 2 faced idiot into a dark alley....
Duh.
Guess it's time for the UN to break out the big guns - a strongly worded memo should do the trick.
Paging Joe Wilson. Paging Joe Wilson. Please pick up the white flag courtesy phone. Urgent message from your wife.
Gosh, I wonder if Mohamed ElBaradei knows about this!
Nuked missile ready for launch.
Ignition! Lift off! Malfunction! OHHHHH Shite!
Tehran blows.
Hans Brix?
If the stakes for world peace weren't so high I'd genuinely love to throw the whole thing to the EU with a "Negotiate this, guys, and call us when Tehran can hit New York." With sad regards to my friends in Europe, yes, that's what decades of incessant anti-Americanism have brought, and yes, a lot of Americans and not all of them conservatives, really do feel that way.
By then Iran will also be able to hit Bulgaria, Denmark, Estonia, Hungary, Italy, Latvia, the Netherlands, Poland, Slovakia, and the Ukraine. I mention those countries in particular because they've all lost people supporting us in Iraq. So, for that matter, has Spain, its pullout and its current government of backstabbing Socialist twits despite. And others who have sent people include the Czech Republic, Armenia, Macedonia, Estonia, and Norway. So before we go through the "Europeans hate us" mantra we'd better remember that it's only the ones with the biggest mouths.
I'm thinking France and Germany. They are the biggest whores of hypocrisy when it comes to arming our enemies.
It's time to repeal some laws, send in Delta Force, off the guy, leave no evidence, and claim complete ignorance.
Star Wars anyone?
I see a US Congressional resolution coming soon: If Iran nukes another country, the entire country of Iran will be incinerated. And if Iran attempts to nuke another country and we shoot it down, Iran will be incinerated with every megaton in our arsenal that Jimmy Carter wanted to eliminate.
Imagine all the satellites, guiding our anti-missile missiles launched from Iraq.
Never ever threaten with nuclear weapons a nation with dozens or thousands of them.
It would be a stupid thing to do. Bluster is a silly foundation on which to build a credible threat.
I read stuff like this and it makes me even more sick to death of the Old Media and the libs crying about NSA spying. They need to let President Bush do his job and stop whining and crying over every little thing.
