I believe that the ammendment changing *HOW* Senators were elected is the worst one out there (next to income tax ... but, heh ) I am for a "Constitutional Restoration act of 20.." to make Sentators accountable to State Legislatures!!!! Then I can go down the street and gripe to my local state congresswoman (well, I used-to-could; she quit a few years ago, but she only lives a block away!!!) about our Senator (I don't have any gripes, right now, this is a hypothetical.... but if I lived in PA.......) and our Senator would hear about our collective gripes much more accurately than they do now.

Before Senators were popularly elected, the Senate was quite insulated from Special interests. The Senators were very careful to please their Constituency which were their State legislators. These state legislators watched their Senators' votes very closely. If the Senators they elected didn't cooperate with the State Legislature then the Senators would be removed. Instead of catering to special interest groups, the Senators were more concerned with catering to the State.
