People need to know "that government is not for sale," Assistant Attorney General Alice S. Fisher said in pledging to pursue the investigation "wherever it goes."Wishful thinking there Alice...The people already know it's for sale, bought and paid for...Even Hastert's got his fingers into the corruption pie to the tune of about 60 G....
Let's not be stupid here...When someone pays for your vacation, you owe 'em...

I have come to the decision that all the stop signs in my town are much too complex to deal with. Hence forth I will no longer obey stop signs.

Brit Hume said earlier that maybe they should just put up bars on all the perps offices and make them serve their time in their offices on the hill.

So Chris Matthews' brother is a Republican? The RNC Committeewoman from PA (Christine Olson) spoke at our Arizona Republican Women Convention in Tucson (she's married to AZ basketball coach Lute), and she was absolutely ecstatic about Lynn Swann; is he a good candidate?

I wan not terribly impressed by the DOJ presentation today, it was woefully lacking in much detail, but what do you expect from any government agency these days?
Of course, details can't be released as there is a "ongoing investigation", yaknow. (Where have ya heard that before?)
The guy copped a plea, for criminy sake.

Rep. Nancy Pelosi has been decrying the 'culture of corruption' in Washington.
We should have listened. She apparently knows what she's talking about:
Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif) $3,000

We have a byzantine campaign finance law that makes it extremely difficult for politicians to get the money they need for campaigns. And so we have these lobbyists and operatives do it for them. Amen. Politics costs big money. A few are rich enough to finance their own campaigns (and why do we think that the richest Americans are the best ones to set policy for the rest of us?). The rest have to collect money in nickel and dime amounts (they're not allowed to have big backing from people they know and agree with). I doubt that many of them know much about where their money comes from.
I do not doubt that many do cast votes for causes that their money-raisers tell them to support. I just doubt that they understand the cause or issue.
I'd like to see a complete overhaul of campaign finance laws.

But some Democrats with links to Abramoff and his associates are also expected to be snagged in the influence-peddling net. Then why does the headline only mention the GOP? Oh, right. The press lies.

The Democrats got a lump of coal for Fitzmas. They're hoping Abramoff is a belated Santa Claus. They may be right.

Lawmakers don't know the Law? (sarc)
I agree in that there are far too many Laws, If someone thinks we need another Law, let them find 7 to get rid of first and in about 20 years we may be able to start seeing a difference.
