Today was the long-anticipated status hearing on guardianship for Scott. 

The hearing took place in judge's chambers with Pamela and her attorneys and Eliza and her attorneys.  Pamela presented the judge with information that she has now filed with the court to have Scott declared "partially capacitated".  This means, at the very least, that he would then be allowed to indicate his preferences for his social environment, such as who is allowed to visit.  He has repeatedly indicated that he does not want to see Eliza, but he does wants to see his son.  

Pamela also informed the judge that, after Scott is legally determined to be "partially capacitated",  they would be filing for a divorce for him.  [emphasis mine]

  Eliza indicated to the judge that she would fight any divorce proceedings. 

The final item that Pamela presented to the judge is that Scott is scheduled for surgery to close his tracheotomy opening, which should allow him to regain his ability to speak and make sound. 

Based on all the above information, Judge Wilkes ruled to grant Pamela another six months of full guardianship of Scott.  This will be a crucial time for Pamela and Scott, as they continue to work, not only for Scott's recovery, but for him to regain the right and ability to truly "speak for himself".

Reported on news that the doctors are not making any assumptions about Randal McCloy's ability to function.

That's the kind of talk that we need to watch out for. It may not be the wife's decision. Sometimes the state decides.

So I did. Sure enough, there was another post-it note on the door. All it said was, "Hoffman says hi." Hoffman! An obvious clue! I put the Hoffman Lenses back on and read it again. Sure enough, the true message became visible.

The fate of a little girl badly injured in a landslide last September will be decided outside of a Norwegian courtroom. Her father and officials at the Bergen hospital where she's lying in a coma have agreed to cooperate. Oddmund Hjartåker has been fighting to prevent doctors at Haukeland University Hospital in Bergen from taking his daughter off a life-support system. Four-year-old Kristina Hjartåker has been linked to a respirator since she was buried under mud and rocks in a landslide set off by heavy rain.

I know it is scary. This guy can swallow a bit and has eaten soft food and responding to voices and looking around, but that is likely not a life worth living to a doctor. I could see them saying that if he doesn't improve anymore than he has than he is likely in a PVS and should pull the feeding tube.

Ya know, my sister's boyfriend in high school was in a car accident and was in a coma for a long time. He had to go to rehab and learn to walk and talk again. He is now the same person he was before with no problems. It takes time, long time for these people to heal and doctors need to be patient instead of quickly wanting to end the life of someone that could live if someone really cared for them.

Haleigh Poutre Moved to Rehab Facility

The 11-year-old Westfield girl who was close to being removed from life support after allegedly being beaten into a coma by her adoptive mother and stepfather has been moved to a rehabilitation hospital in Boston.

Haleigh Poutre was discharged Thursday from Baystate Medical Center in Springfield and admitted to the Franciscan Hospital for Children. She has been hospitalized since September, when authorities say she was beaten into a coma.

A statement issued by the Franciscan Hospital said: "It is our hope that her stay at Franciscan will afford her the opportunity to maximize her potential for gains in her recovery."

So, she goes from being in a PVS with no hope of recovery being able to move her eys in the direction of voices and breathing on her own. HMMMM, amamzing isn't it??? The expert doctors who won the right to kill her were wrong! This is the reason why courts should lean on the side of life since it appears now proven that doctors are not always right and there absolutes are not absolutes!
