Pamela's guardianship renewed for another six months! Please see "Scott's News" for more information. (continued at link)
http://scottsfight.com/Scott's%20News.htm January 3, 2006
Today was the long-anticipated status hearing on guardianship for Scott.
The hearing took place in judge's chambers with Pamela and her attorneys and Eliza and her attorneys. Pamela presented the judge with information that she has now filed with the court to have Scott declared "partially capacitated". This means, at the very least, that he would then be allowed to indicate his preferences for his social environment, such as who is allowed to visit. He has repeatedly indicated that he does not want to see Eliza, but he does wants to see his son.
Pamela also informed the judge that, after Scott is legally determined to be "partially capacitated", they would be filing for a divorce for him. [emphasis mine]
Eliza indicated to the judge that she would fight any divorce proceedings.
The final item that Pamela presented to the judge is that Scott is scheduled for surgery to close his tracheotomy opening, which should allow him to regain his ability to speak and make sound.
Based on all the above information, Judge Wilkes ruled to grant Pamela another six months of full guardianship of Scott. This will be a crucial time for Pamela and Scott, as they continue to work, not only for Scott's recovery, but for him to regain the right and ability to truly "speak for himself".
Please continue to join us in prayer and other support for Scott and Pamela as they continue the battle for LIFE.

That photo of Terri is striking. I don't see how anyone can look at it and say, "This woman is comatose."

I hope Gov Romney has more clout than Jeb Bush does. Still, I'm very pleased with Romney's strong statement. It's amazing how quickly children can heal, and I think this little girl has a strong will to live. Bless her heart : )

I doubt he'll investigate anything. He may have to explain why it wasn't done prior to Terri's death.

Very beautiful statement. The Schindlers sure produced some good looking kids, didn't they? I remember a picture of the three kids with their folks many years ago, that was posted here.

From the link you provided:
"The Court, however, is not ruling out the possibility that Haleigh, now a ward of the state, can still be dehydrated to death. The Boston Globe said Wednesday that the court is deferring the decision to remove Haleighs feeding and hydration tube until further medical evidence has been established for her improvement.
Denise Monteiro, a spokeswoman for the state's Department of Social Services, said, There's a possible change in her condition. She's having some responses.
Peg Whitbread, president of Massachusetts Citizens for Life said, Its disturbing. The SJC is saying the state has a right to euthanize a severely disabled ward of the state.'
I wonder what we can do to help this girl.

I read that Haleigh's biological mother was against keeping her alive, but changed her mind shortly before DSS acknowledged Haleigh was showing improvement. I wonder if she believed the doctors, but then saw for herself that Haleigh is alive.

Comments by Terri's sister dominate the news on the Terri story today. FairOpinion pings us to a separate thread by bullitt. Got some lively discussion going on there, people who do not normally visit our thread.

Greer needs to be investigated, and Jeb Bush needs to keep his word when he promised that Greer will be investigated.
Even Michael Jackson top CEOs have shown up for a deposition. Yet Michael and his mistress Jodi were allowed to skip it?

God love Suzanne Vitadamo for her witness.
Every generation has to learn the devastating price of false ideas. The sanctity of life has been under leftist attack since long before any of us was born. One of my favorite favorite teachers, Albert Jay Nock, wrote in the 1930s that the value of life had shrunk to the vanishing point.
Another, Gilbert Keith Chesterton, tried, even earlier, to satirize the British death culture of that era as "free death" (like "free love" where anything goes). Unfortunately, Liberals then or now are beyond satire. No matter what preposterous theory you can invent for them at the far raving edge of your imagination, the liberals will believe something worse, and dress you down for being too stupid to believe it yourself.
Nock also had a distaste going on "horror" (his word) for liberals, and said he wouldn't trust them with a red hot stove unless the stove was relatively worthless.

I just heard on the news that Michael and Jodie got married. That would come as no surprise, but I hadn't seen anything on it yet. I don't suppose it would be a grand affair with plenty of advance notice for his many fans.

Next, "Dueling Chainsaws."
I was taking a few liberties above and don't want anyone to get confused. There are two musical-duel songs here. The song "Dueling Banjos" was in the movie Deliverance. I've heard it done with other instruments dueling (but not dental drills -- yet :-) ). "The Devil Went down to Georgia" was also a musical duel -- the instrument was fiddles in Charlie Daniels's classic. I have an accordion version by Those Darn Accordions (an all-accordion band, and great fun) and no doubt it's been done by show-off musicians with other instruments.
