Scott Thomas update: mom's guardianship continued!
Scott's fight website ^ | 1/3/06 | Pamela Patton

Pamela's guardianship renewed for another six months!  Please see "Scott's News" for more information. (continued at link)

http://scottsfight.com/Scott's%20News.htm

January 3, 2006

Today was the long-anticipated status hearing on guardianship for Scott.

The hearing took place in judge's chambers with Pamela and her attorneys and Eliza and her attorneys.  Pamela presented the judge with information that she has now filed with the court to have Scott declared "partially capacitated".  This means, at the very least, that he would then be allowed to indicate his preferences for his social environment, such as who is allowed to visit.  He has repeatedly indicated that he does not want to see Eliza, but he does wants to see his son.

Pamela also informed the judge that, after Scott is legally determined to be "partially capacitated",  they would be filing for a divorce for him.  [emphasis mine]

Eliza indicated to the judge that she would fight any divorce proceedings.

The final item that Pamela presented to the judge is that Scott is scheduled for surgery to close his tracheotomy opening, which should allow him to regain his ability to speak and make sound.

Based on all the above information, Judge Wilkes ruled to grant Pamela another six months of full guardianship of Scott.  This will be a crucial time for Pamela and Scott, as they continue to work, not only for Scott's recovery, but for him to regain the right and ability to truly "speak for himself".

Please continue to join us in prayer and other support for Scott and Pamela as they continue the battle for LIFE.

Tom Gallagher sounds like a good candidate. He reminds me of Tom McClintock in CA.

Somewhere I have the song done by the great accordion band, "Those Darn Accordions." It's more fun than banjos.

C-Span covers the March of Life in D.C. Check c-span's listings. I watched it last year and Terri's brother spoke. Her family is getting honored at the March of Life. They will probably be in c-span.....

LURKERS, MEDIA AND FREEPERS, IF YOU HAVEN'T BEEN THERE YET, WHAT'S TAKING YOU SO LONG?

The anti-Judge Greed web site is UPDATED... This web site has link after link and maybe the mainstream media should FOLLOW THE MONEY instead of just chanting "right to die".

There has to be a reason why Haliegh was adopted. I just can't remember if it was in any articles posted here. Oh well, off to unpack more books and listen to the windbag on c-span.

If you have a chance, dig around and see if you find anything out : )

The gentleman in Denver, whose breathing machine, feeding tube, and hydration were all removed on Thursday, is still alive. His family had hoped that he would die shortly after the removal of the life support. Hasn't happened. That's too bad for him. The longer he lasts, the harder it will be on the family that made this decision, I suspect. It is PRESUMABLY true that he would have died, but when, who can say for sure. He was in and out of consciousness at the time of the life support removal.

I think the way to go with this child is to give her time, not push to make decisions to end her life or not. Let her live and give her the care she needs. If in the end she dies lets it be from her body giving up on it's own will, not by dehyrdrating or starving to death. Let her live and be patient. It could take years for her to improve more if she does or not. So, why the rush to make decisions? If it takes years than give her that time. She is still alive, not dead. Brain damaged people deserve the right to live and the state should recongize that and leave her alone. Let her be cared for with every possible means out there, but don't remove life support from her. I think it is wonderful she is breathing on her own and improving, this just shows she still has life in her little body. DOn't kill her!

Haleigh's biological mother was found unfit to care for her and her boyfriend was accused of sexually molesting the little girl. The adoptive mother was the sister of the biological mother. I saw an interview with the biological mothers - she did not come across well. I received a phone call and missed much of the interview and thus, I could be wrong, but seem she was against keeping Haleigh alive.

Thanks for the info, Dante. I wasn't sure if the mother was declared unfit or not. Apparently this poor kid didn't have much of a chance at a healthy life : (

Little Haleigh has shown some improvement. Gov. Romney is reported as having said, ". . . it should be clear to everyone that no action shall be taken to end this girl's life."

Terri Schiavo's sister says country has lost "value" of life

Terri's younger sister, Suzanne Vitadamo

The sister of Terri Schiavo said Saturday that her family's failed struggle to keep the brain-damaged woman alive shows a society that has "lost sight of the value" of human life.

Suzanne Vitadamo, Schiavo's sister, was the featured speaker at the "Stand Up For Life" rally, sponsored by the South Carolina Citizens for Life. About 1,000 people turned out in front of South Carolina's capitol to listen to Vitadamo recount her sister's ordeal.

Vitadamo said Schiavo did not want to die and was not terminal when she died of dehydration in March, 13 days after her feeding tube was removed. Schiavo's husband, Michael, had a court order allowing him to remove the feeding tube.

"Our society has shifted to a quality of life mentality and has lost sight of the value (and) sacredness of all human life," Vitadamo said. "We now as a nation are deciding when it is OK or not OK to kill those suffering from disabilities."
