Could he be any worse than Rendell, the one we have now? Or worse than some other previous PA governors?

My father always said that Swannie caught the ball if it was anywhere near him. He said that Swan could jump like a kangaroo and took the ball away from the defenders. And he was right.

Thank you very much for posting that...

He seems qualified to me...I am just sorry I can't vote for him...however, if he needs donations...I will be glad to.

I did for Thune in South Dakota.

This is from an e-mail I get from "Team 88"

Lynn Swann Endorses Jim Matthews for Lieutenant Governor

Yesterday, in a letter to the Montgomery County Republican Chairman, I made formal my support of Jim Matthews' campaign for Lieutenant Governor.

In my travels across Pennsylvania, I have been clear about my desire to put together the best team possible to governor the Commonwealth. In my letter to Chairman Davis and the Montgomery Republican Committee, I made it clear that Jim Matthews would be a valuable addition to my team, and that Jim and I share the same vision of reducing taxes, improving education, creating jobs and reforming state government.

A Swann/Matthews ticket is right for our Commonwealth, and I hope that you will sign up to help us change Pennsylvania.

The following are some key exerpts from Lynn's letter to Chairman Ken Davis:

'Like anyone looking to take on an incumbent governor and change Pennsylvania, I can't do it alone. I need your support - and I need a partner equally committed to changing this Commonwealth. I believe that Montgomery County Commissioner Jim Matthews is that partner and I plan to support his campaign for Lt. Governor.'

'During this campaign, I have proposed transforming state government into a more efficient entity by lowering spending and saving taxpayers' money. Commissioner Matthews has already done this in Montgomery County, where he saved taxpayers over $18 million by using cutting edge financing techniques.'

'I have proposed restructuring government, and Commissioner Matthews has shown that he is committed to doing just that in his work to privatize the Tax Collection Bureau, where he saved taxpayers hundreds of thousands of dollars.'

'Protecting open space will be a priority for my administration, and Commissioner Matthews has led the way in such efforts. His role in passing a $150 million bond issue to invest in acquisition of open space and drafting Montgomery County's comprehensive plan highlights his commitment.'

'Furthermore, Jim will also bring strength to the ticket in one of the most important battleground areas. I know how important it is to improve our vote totals in Montgomery County and Southeastern Pennsylvania, and I am convinced that Jim is the type of running mate that helps make that happen.'

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Be There When It All Begins!

Mark your calender to join me at the Heinz History Center in Pittsburgh for a big announcement on January 4th.

Doors open at 5:30 and the program begins at 6:00.

Please be sure to RSVP to 412-325-8888 or via info@lynnswannteam88.com. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- P.S. Don't forget to sign-up as a Team 88 volunteer at LynnSwannTeam88.com --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I get these e-mails periodically, from everything I've read he's running and is just as qualified as anyone else.

For Lynn Swann to run as a Republican for Govenor of PA, is HUGE. The naysayers can keep carping, but it won't change the fact that Swann is a classy and universally respected guy.

It will be hard for the dems to crucify him with a straight face and if they try, it will give the sheeple a good hard look at the mean-spirited party of NO; as in NO ideas, NO vision, NO optimism, NO patriotism, etc.

"As with the Miers nomination, one doesn't go to the top job without some intervening steps.

Er.....have you ever heard of a guy named Arnold Schwartznegger? Or, for that matter, a guy named Ronald Reagan both of whom had did not hold political office prior to running for Governor of the largest state in the union?????

Somehow I do not think Swann will pull too many votes in the Philly area.

You think the first black major party candidate for any state-wide office won't get votes in Philly? I think he'll get a hell of a lot of votes there and Fast Eddie who is the "white" establishment in Philly should be very worried.

BTW. The Eagles and Steelers haven't been football rivals for decades, since the Steelers moved to the AFC in 1970 --- They are in different conferences and seldom play each other.

He's a good man, and he is well qualified. I'll be supporting him too.

But lucky me, I get to vote for him!

Ok, he played football. And got inducted into the Football Hall of Fame. So, does he have any other qualifications?

I'd guess just as many qualifications as an actor had for being Governor of California.

Philly for sure.Allegheny County (Pittsburgh) is trending more towards Rep. in recent elections.

If we could just give Philly to New Jersey, we'd be fine. LOL!

He's not Fast Eddy Rendell. That's good enough for me.

I was about to post that it wouldn't require much for him to be a better man than Fast Eddy.

I'm glad no one told Ronald Reagan that when he ran for Gov. in California.

You may be forgetting that Ronald Reagan was SAG President.
