Israel denies it's about to bomb Iran nuke site
Jan 2, 2006
Israeli military chief Dan Halutz has discounted an imminent air strike against Iranian nuclear facilities as Iran's President delivered a diatribe against the Jewish state.
"I don't think an operation by the Israel defence forces against the Iranians will be necessary soon," General Halutz said. "All political options for halting the Iranian program must be exhausted before other options are considered."
He appeared to be toning down the implications of recent statements by Israeli leaders that Iran was only three months away from achieving the technological know-how for the production of a nuclear bomb.
General Halutz, a former combat pilot, was until last year commander of the Israeli Air Force, which is presumed to have long been planning a strike against Iranian nuclear facilities in the event that one is ordered. In 1981, the air force destroyed Iraq's nuclear reactor before it started up.

I hope this is not correct. General Halutz is no longer in charge and the source, which is Iranian, is questionable at best.

Oh, this one, of course. Again, since the source is Iranian I assume someone in Iran decided it was best to diffuse the situation. This is noticably missing from the Israeli press.

Everytime I read about Israel or the USA planning an attack against Iran's nuke sites, I picture the CIA, NSA and the DIA all using satellites and ground surveillance to watch for signs of unusual activity.
I personally believe when those sites are positively located they will be destroyed, At least I hope they are. There is absolutely no future in playing nice with a bunch of islamic fascists.

Diffuse the situation?? On same day they restarted (oh gotta love that) enriching uranium?? No Israel needs to keep the pressure up..I am sure the Iran military is getting a wee bit exhausted staying on high alert.. wonder how many times a week they scramble jets at radar bogeys??

I don't think we will have a choice but to take some military action in the end. I am very concerned about this situation, and North Korea, and Taiwan. Three troubling areas.

"I don't think an operation by the Israel defence forces against the Iranians will be necessary soon," General Halutz said. No. That would be offense! And a good one at that!

Yes, the "pingers", as I call them, have large ping lists. Do you have a less humourous way to describe them?

Western Europe would love to see a fight between Israel and Iran very soon. Keep improving the anti-ballistic missile defense and better offense without stopping.
