I didn't read it, but I've read enough about the interlocking alliances etc. that led to it. I believe the whole doggone thing wasn't anyone's fault, i.e., everybody and nobody.
WWI just makes me sad, when I think about it. With WWII there was a villian, and a mad dog country that had to be put down, noble cause and all that. But WWI just seemed to happen for no reason at all.
And then leave it to the French to put their silk-lined slipper on the German neck after the war, just because they could. THAT is what led to the next war. Too bad Hitler wasn't satisfied with France, we probably could have negotiated the frogs away without anyone being too put out by it, least of all the french.
