Handguns have been banned in NYC for many years.That's news to one of my best friends who practices regularly at the West Side Rifle & Pistol Range at 20 W 20TH St., New York, NY 10011-4213 (212) 929-7287. Parking is no problem after 6 PM on Friday evenings.

Or is he connected, monied and carrying a permit allowing him this "privilege"?

Need a special New York City permit.
My NY state concealed permit was good everywhere but New York city. Very hard to get city permit.

I think he meant carrying permits are hard to get. And BTW, I know a lot of NJ police officers who were banned from wearing their guns while marching in the st. Patrick's, Columbus day and Pulaski day parades. It's one of the hardest cities in the USA to carry a gun.
