Isaiah was a Democrat
NY Times/IHT ^ | JANUARY 2, 2006 | Joseph Loconte

WASHINGTON Nancy Pelosi, the Democratic leader in the U.S. House of Representatives, sounded like an Old Testament prophet recently when she denounced the Republican budget for its "injustice and immorality" and urged her colleagues to cast their no votes "as an act of worship" during this religious season.

This, apparently, is what the Democrats had in mind when they vowed after President George W. Bush's re-election to reclaim religious voters for their party. In the House, they set up a Democratic Faith Working Group. Senator Harry Reid, the minority leader, created a Web site called Word to the Faithful. And Democratic officials began holding conferences with religious progressives. All of this was with the intention of learning how to link faith with public policy. An event for liberal politicians and advocates at the University of California at Berkeley in July even offered a seminar titled "I Don't Believe in God, but I Know America Needs a Spiritual Left."

A look at the tactics and theology of the religious left, however, suggests that this is exactly what American politics does not need. If Democrats give religious progressives a stronger voice, they'll only replicate the misdeeds of the religious right

WOW! I guess the Democrats think people of faith can swing elections! I guess the Democrats think we are an important voting block. Of course, I would never waste my time with Democrats in the first place.

Actually, imagine Ted Kennedy in hairshirt and fasting, or subsisting on locusts and wild honey - it would surely do him a lot of good, if only in terms of weight loss. But there was a prohibition agains wine and cider - he might find it inconvenient.

"injustice and immorality" LOL!!! Yes Pelosi, everything the Republicans do is evil. But thank you for your moral fortitude to push for raising taxes. That is such a progressive idea. sarc/off. If anybody who truly believes in God and Jesus votes for these idiots is a buffoon.

I know. My favorite one the Dem's use is the one about Jesus taking care of the poor. The Democrats take that to mean sending a check to every lazy bum who is capable but refuses to work.

It will be entertaining to watch the Democrats as they become religious during this election year.

Ted Kennedy and Nancy Pelosi claim to be Catholic and are both baby killers . I doubt their sincerity when it comes to religion. They use it for political purposes like they use everything else.

Why doesn't she just move to a safer place while there still is "pre-judgement" time, like Iran

Pretty much what drove me and my entire extended family from the "Democrat Plantation".

"They use it for political purposes like they use everything else."
That's OK, as nobody would believe them anyway. But Ted in a hairshirt, on a diet, and with no wine or cider would be fun to watch. Also, then he could be mocked [it is all a part of the deal], like Elisha was - but he does not have a bald pate.

Communists lie. Always.

They deny the existence of God but now aim to use Him to sway the masses.

Socialized medicine and giveaways are not charity. There is no "free will" in gifting to the tax man. That is merely living under Caesar's laws.

Infanticide (the sacrament of abortion) is morally wrong. Adultry is morally wrong. Lying under oath is morally wrong. Having sex with another person of the same sex is morally wrong. Mocking God by attempting to get churches to hold same sex weddings is fundamentally wrong.

Nothing but lies and empty promises.

If Nancy Pelosi was as interested in what the Bible says about right and wrong, she would champion the punch line of one of Christ's free market parables.

In the Parable of the Workers in the Vineyard in Matthew 20, after showing the principles of respect for personal propery, and freedom to contract (and the obligation of contracts), Our Lord ends the parable (in verse 18) with this question:

"Don’t I have the right to do what I want with my own money? Or are you envious because I am generous?"

Yes, indeed! Does Ms. Pelosi want to study and apply these principles, or does she find them in opposition to her political class-warfare? I think the latter.

Ms. Pelosi is only interested in the few passages and concepts in the Bible that she can spin and hijack to support her political agenda.

Ah yes! Yesha-Yahu, A.K.A. Isaiah. When the Jews talk about "THE PROPHET", he's the one they're talking about. Quite a name to invoke!

Too many people want to be an Isaiah, but too few want to die by being sawed in half as he was.

The left doesn't comprehend. By this, I mean that they don't understand, realize, perceive righteousness. They've proven this by politicizing it. If their priorities were with God, they wouldn't have politicized it.

But because believers make a stand based on a knowlege of God, the left accuses us of politicizing faith.

They're doing the equivalent of pouring water on a magnesium fire on board a ship. It might make them feel better, but in the end, it still burns a hole in the deck and sets the whole place on fire.

Their ignorance and lack of insight is truly astounding. They give true meaning to the spiritual meaning of blindness.

There are no Christians in the Democrat Party, just phonies acting like Christians. And.....there are no Jews in the Democrat Party, just phonies with Jewish names that hate Israel and the thousands of years of Jewish struggle to remain free to practice the religion of the one God, and keep their lands that they spent so much blood and treasure fighting for over the ages. When I look and listen to Barbara Boxer, Steven Spielberg, Barbra Steisand, etc., I puke relentlessly!!!

I always get a charge out of the use of the phrase 'religious right.' The MSN attempts to paint this 'religious right' as a bunch of wild eyed heretics. Problem is, religion is religion regardless of whether you are liberal, conservative, libertarian, populous or totalitarian.

The smear is "we can get along with the 'right' but those 'religious right' fanatics are just beyond hope.  Somehow applying religion to a group of conservatives makes one crazy, but evidently applying that same religion to a like group of liberals doesn't.

If you put a diesel engine in a Ford it becomes junk, but if you put that exact same diesel in a Chevy it's OK!

Every time you hear a complaint about the religious right, that is not what they are complaining about. They are complaining about religion. Religious right is simply code for religious.
